Novozymes reports higher Q1 sales and profit

The Danish biotechnology company Novozymes A/S has reported a net turnover of DKK1.31bn in the first quarter, an increase of 4% from the same quarter a year ago.

Novozymes says its sales in the US continued to show good growth rates in the first three months of 2002 while sales to Europe declined from the same period in 2001 due to stock reductions by some large customers.

The operating profit went up from DKK177m in January-March 2001 to DKK194m in this year's first quarter. The net profit grew from DKK123m to DKK129m.

Novozymes expects that its net turnover of 2002 will be 7-8% higher than in the previous year.
