The Norwegian oil company Statoil ASA said today (26 November) that it had spudded the first exploration well on the Blameis prospect in the Norwegian Sea.
Blameis is close to Statoil's Norne field where Statoil has already found oil. None of the Norne discoveries have been large enough to support stand-alone development but Statoil said that it attached great hopes to the Blameis "wildcat".
