ABB wins USD32m power supply contract in Mozambique

The Swiss-Swedish power and automation technology group ABB announced today (17 September) that it had secured a USD32m contract to strengthen the power supply in Mozambique.

The contract covered the building of a 343-kilometre power transmission system which would provide the Niassa province in the northwest of Mozambique with power from the Cahora Bassa hydropower plant, ABB said.

The contract was awarded by the state-owned electricity company Electricidade de Mozambique (EdM) while financing was provided by the Swedish and Norwegian aid organisations SIDA and NORAD.
