ABB wins USD26m railway power supply contract from London Electricity Services

The Swiss-Swedish power and automation technology group ABB said today (17 April) that it had received a USD26m railway power supply contract from London Electricity Services.

The contract covered the building of a power supply system for a new high-speed railway link between London and the English Channel Tunnel, including three feeder substations and four autotransformer stations, ABB said.

The contract is ABB's second recent commission in connection with the project. The company already has a contract to supply and install power transformers, static var compensators and load balancing equipment.

One US dollar (USD) is worth approximately 0.64 British pounds (GBP).
