The Sweden-based pan-European telecommunications company Tele2 AB said today (30 April) that its mobile subsidiary Tango had launched its 3G (third generation/UMTS) network in Luxembourg.

Tele2's 3G network, which covers 90% of the population and 70% of the territory in Luxembourg, would use Tango's existing 2G (GSM) network infrastructure as a base for the launch, according to the company.

Tele2 said that the 3G launch would provide additional capacity to the network and provide Tango customers with new services, including messaging services with photo and video, Internet access and live video streaming of Tango TV.
