Kemira Oyj acquires majority holding in US-based Kemiron Companies

The Finnish chemical industry group Kemira Oyj said on Wednesday (13 August) that it had increased its holding in the US-based water treatment company Kemiron Companies Inc from 15% to 60%.
The parties had also agreed on terms under which Kemira is obliged to buy the remaining 40% of shares.
Kemira said that the former majority owner and founder, Lawrence Hjersted, would remain as a minority shareholder in the company, and would continue as CEO of the company.
The acquisition price was not disclosed.
