NORDIC BUSINESS REPORT-8 December 2003-Alma Media subsidiary to save EUR10m annually if analogue broadcast are terminated(C)1994-2003 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

The Finnish media group Alma Media Corporation said on Monday (8 December) that a Finnish parliamentary working committee had proposed in its report to the Finnish ministry of transport and communications that analogue terrestrial television transmissions be terminated on 31 August 2007.

The Finnish government is due to consider the committee's proposal in January-February 2004, and should it approve the proposal, Alma Media's broadcasting subsidiary MTV Oy would save some EUR10m in annual transmission costs due to the termination of analogue broadcasts.

Currently MTV transmits its TV signals in both digital and analogue formats.

One euro (EUR) is worth approximately 0.7 British pounds (GBP).
