Icelandic retail group Baugur has acquired a 2% stake in the United Kingdom high street retailer Mothercare.
According to UK newspaper The Daily Telegraph, Baugur has bought more than 1.5m shares in Mothercare over the past three weeks, with an investment amounting to more than GBP1.3m.
Baugur also owns minority stakes in several other companies in the UK retail sector, including House of Fraser, Big Food Group, Somerfield and Selfridges.
