Ericsson signs five-year information systems outsourcing agreement with IBM

Swedish telecommunications solutions provider Ericsson said on Monday (21 July) that it had signed a five-year agreement to outsource the development, implementation and maintenance of IT applications to IBM.
The agreement covered Ericsson's operations worldwide and would involve transferring Ericsson personnel to IBM, Ericsson said.
"Outsourcing of services for IT applications is part of Ericsson's ongoing changes within the IS/IT area, and our overall restructuring programme aiming at radically reducing the operating expenses and cost of sales," said Per-Arne Sandstrom, deputy chief executive officer at Ericsson.
The financial details of the outsourcing agreement were not disclosed.
