Swedish telecomms solutions provider Ericsson said on Tuesday (10 June) that its subsidiary Ericsson Hungary had signed a contract with the Hungarian public telephone service provider Emitel Telecommunications for the installation of an Ethernet Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) broadband network.

Ericsson would provide Emitel with Asymmetric DSL (ADSL) lines to establish broadband service for smaller towns and local communities in southern Hungary, according to the company.

Ericsson said that the ADSL lines would be delivered using its scalable Ethernet DSL Access solution.
