Swedish telecomms solutions provider Ericsson said today (6 March) that it had signed a contract with the United Kingdom entertainment terminals operator Inspired Broadcast Networks (IBN) to build a public Wi-Fi network.
Ericsson said that it would equip some 5,000 entertainment terminals with public Wi-Fi Hot Spot capabilities by using Digital Subscriber Lines (DSL) for backhaul of traffic.
According to Ericsson its Wi-Fi solution would give broadband operators and service providers the ability to offer their customers wireless Hot Spot access at the same speeds as they have in their broadband connected homes or offices.
Inspired Broadcast Networks is a subsidiary of the UK coin operated entertainment terminals operator LLG.
