Danisco A/S completes acquisition of Rhodia Food Ingredients

The Danish food ingredients, sweeteners and sugar group Danisco A/S said on Tuesday (1 June) that it had completed its previously announced acquisition of the food ingredients business of the French group Rhodia.
Danisco paid EUR320m for Rhodia Food Ingredients, which has 860 employees and reported sales of EUR211m in 2003.
Rhodia Food Ingredients' cultures operations will form a new division, Danisco Cultures, while the other activities will be integrated into the existing divisions Specialities, Textural Ingredients and Functional Systems.
"We're looking forward to starting the integration process. Rhodia's talented and knowledgeable employees will contribute to the value creation at Danisco and help bolster our position in the ingredients market," said Alf Duch-Pedersen, CEO of Danisco.
One euro (EUR) is worth approximately 0.7 British pounds (GBP).
