NORDIC BUSINESS REPORT-23 June 2004-Finnish minister criticises TeliaSonera agreement(C)1994-2004 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

The Finnish minister of transport and communications Leena Luhtanen is criticising the agreement on ownership for TeliaSonera that was entered into between Finland and Sweden in 2002.

The minister has said that the former minister of transport and communications Kimmo Sasi should have demanded an agreement that would have guaranteed Finland a certain number of positions in the operative leadership of the company. As the current agreement stands, Finland cannot demand that the dismissed deputy CEO Harri Koponen is replaced by another Finn, reported the Finnish online newsletter Internytt.

According to Sasi it would however have been impossible to demand national quotas in the management of TeliaSonera as it would have made the framework too narrow. Competence must be a priority, the former minister said.
