NORDIC BUSINESS REPORT-8 June 2004-IFPI to sue 24 Danes for Internet music piracy - report(C)1994-2004 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com
The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) has reportedly said that it would sue 24 individuals in Denmark for trading music files online as part of the expanding global crackdown on Internet piracy.
The music industry officials had reportedly also warned the United Kingdom, France and Sweden that they could be added to the list of target countries.
"It's inevitable," Jay Berman, CEO of IFPI, reportedly said when asked of the likelihood those countries would be included. The CEO added that Japan was also a strong candidate for lawsuits as recorded music sales continue to slide.
The music industry has already sued 2,947 people in the US and has announced more than 230 lawsuits in Denmark, Germany, Italy and Canada, reported Reuters.
