NORDIC BUSINESS REPORT-4 May 2004-Wartsila Corporation signs CBM contract with Transocean Inc(C)1994-2004 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

Finnish ship power supplier and decentralized power generation systems provider Wartsila Corporation said on Tuesday (4 May) that it had signed a contract with the Cayman Islands-based offshore drilling company Transocean Inc for a Conditioned Based Maintenance (CBM) programme.

The contract covered three Transocean properties: the Deepwater Millennium and Deepwater Pathfinder drill ships and the Deepwater Nautilus semi-submersible drill rig, according to the company.

Under the terms of the CBM contract, engine operating data would continuously be transmitted from offshore rigs to Wartsila's analysis centre in Finland, while Wartsila would provide monthly reports on maintenance needs, based on established guidelines and the specific operating conditions.

Parts could be pre-ordered and stocked in advance, reducing rush delivery costs, the company said.

According to Wartsila the contract was the company's first CBM contract for offshore rigs.

No financial information was provided.
