The Swedish-controlled international newspaper publisher Metro International S.A. said on Wednesday (5 May) that it had launched the free newspaper Metro New York in New York City, US.
The company said that 300,000 copies of the free newspaper were being distributed on the streets of New York, making Metro the fifth largest newspaper in New York.
The New York City edition would be distributed Monday-Friday by hand and from racks in high-traffic central locations in Manhattan and along key suburban commuter routes, according to the company.
Metro also said that it had launched its Metro US sales package in order to enable clients to buy packaged advertising space and solutions in its three Eastern seaboard editions: New York City, Boston and Philadelphia.
