Ericsson provides turnkey network infrastructure in India

Swedish telecomms solutions provider Ericsson said on Thursday (21 October) that it had signed a contract with the Indian mobile operator Dishnet Wireless Limited, part of Sterling Infotech Group, to deploy a complete turnkey GSM/GPRS/EDGE network infrastructure and equipment for the northern and eastern circles in India.

Under the agreement, Ericsson would provide infrastructure and services for GSM/GPRS/EDGE, Unified Messaging System, MMS and Intelligent Network.

The circles account for nearly half of India's population.

Ericsson said that the contract would be rolled out over a period of two years. No financial information was provided.
