Finnish telecomms solutions provider Nokia has reportedly signed a five-year outsourcing agreement with technology solutions provider Hewlett-Packard Co (HP).

The deal, said to be worth some USD100m per year, extends and expands an existing agreement between the two companies that was signed in 2001. The contract finalises a Memorandum of Understanding announced in February 2004.

Under the agreement HP will continue to provide Nokia with global IT outsourcing services for its 51,000 employees worldwide. It will also continue to manage the IT infrastructure and operations for Nokia's messaging, groupware and network.

In addition HP will enable the transformation of Nokia's IT infrastructure environment to a service-based model, HP said.

One US dollar (USD) is worth approximately 0.56 British pounds (GBP).
