Wartsila sells manufacturing unit in France to MHI

Finnish ship power supplier and decentralized power generation systems provider Wartsila Corporation said on Tuesday (19 April) that its manufacturing unit in Mulhouse, France, would be transferred to the Japanese heavy machine manufacturer Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd (MHI).

MHI would take over the manufacturing facilities as well as some 70 employees from Wartsila France, and would use the Mulhouse unit to manufacture its own high-speed diesel engines.

Wartsila would continue to provide service and maintenance for the Wartsila engine base in Mulhouse.

The transaction completes the restructuring programme initiated by Wartsila in 2003, according to the company.
