Norwegian telecomms group Telenor ASA said on Tuesday (26 April) that it has entered into an agreement with the Norwegian privately-owned retail chain Reitan Group for supply of a Nordic data network.

The data network would cover the group's some 1,500 sales outlets, as well as 50 offices and warehouses in Norway, Sweden and Denmark.

Under the agreement, Telenor would be responsible for development and management of the Reitan Group's central Nordic data network, including accesses to the sales outlets.

The proposed network would be based on IP VPN (Virtual Private Network over the Internet) with ADSL/SHDSL broadband as the communications carrier in the data network, Telenor added.

The three-year agreement was valued at some NOK45m.

One Norwegian krone (NOK) is worth approximately 0.08 British pounds (GBP).
