Nokia to sell its PMR business

Finnish telecomms solutions provider Nokia said on Tuesday (5 April) that it was in advanced negotiations with the global aerospace, defence and related services provider EADS for the sale of its Professional Mobile Radio (PMR) business.

The acquisition would enhance EADS' position in homeland security systems and mission critical secure wireless communications solutions, according to Nokia.

Nokia said that its PMR business, including TETRA infrastructure and terminals, currently has 325 employees who would be transferred to EADS.

The closing of the acquisition was expected before the end of 2005.

No financial information was provided.
