The Swedish defence and aerospace group Saab reported on Thursday (17 February) an operating profit of SEK1.66bn on sales of SEK17.9bn for the financial year January-December 2004.

Both operating profit and sales for the 12-month period increased, respectively from SEK1.29bn and SEK17.3bn, as compared to the financial year 2003.

Operating profit for the quarter October-December 2004 amounted to SEK726m on sales of SEK5.76bn.

Earnings per share (EPS) in 2004 increased to SEK10.08 from SEK7.00 in 2003.

The company's board of directors would propose a dividend of SEK3.75 per share for 2004.

One Swedish krona (SEK) is worth approximately 0.08 British pounds (GBP).
