NetCom launches 3G network for Norwegian PC users

Finnish-Swedish telecomms group TeliaSonera said on Monday (28 February) that its Norwegian subsidiary NetCom will launch its UMTS network on Tuesday.

The first new service is the NetCom Connect smart card for PC laptops.

"With a cost for unlimited use of NOK399 per month (NOK499, including VAT), this is a positive alternative for our customers, who send e-mail or surf the Internet, whether they are on the move, at their summer cottage or at home," commented Barbara Thoralfsson, president of NetCom.

NetCom's 3G network is the most comprehensive in Norway, covering more than 240 towns and urban areas with some 3.5m inhabitants.

One Norwegian krone (NOK) is worth approximately 0.09 British pounds (GBP).
