Bermuda-based US-Norwegian shipping company Nordic American Tanker Shipping Ltd (NAT) said on Friday (21 January) that it had agreed to acquire a double hull suezmax tanker.
The well maintained tanker was built by a first class yard in the Far East, according to the company.
After the acquisition NAT would have five modern suezmax oil tankers.
The acquisition price of USD68.25m would be financed with a credit facility of USD300m that the company has established with an international banking syndicate.
One US dollar (USD) is worth approximately 0.53 British pounds (GBP).
