The Swedish government has reportedly decided to postpone the decision on whether it will invest some SEK750m in the development of an unmanned combat aircraft, the Neuron project.

Neuron is a joint project of the French aerospace company Dassault and Sweden's Saab.

France plans to invest some SEK3bn in the project.

In a press statement quoted by the Swedish news agency Direkt, Saab has expressed its surprise at the government's decision. Saab pointed out that the investment would secure work in the high-tech sector as well as uphold the competitiveness of the Swedish aircraft industry.

One Swedish krona (SEK) is worth approximately 0.07 British pounds (GBP).
