Ericsson delivers fixed network upgrade to Maltacom

Swedish telecomms solutions provider Ericsson said on Wednesday (23 March) that it had been contracted by the Maltese telecomms operator Maltacom for a total upgrade of its fixed network.
Under the agreement Ericsson would upgrade Maltacom's core network from circuit-switched technology, based on AXE-10 exchanges, to an IP-based Softswitch solution.
Ericsson's Telephony Softswitch solution would cover the complete fixed line telephony network including local, transit and international network layers. Ericsson would also provide the related implementation and support services, the company said.
