Finnish paper industry company UPM-Kymmene Corporation is reportedly to upgrade the biological effluent treatment unit of its facility in Kajaani, Finland.
The company would reportedly also upgrade the automation system of the entire plant.
UPM-Kymmene said that renewal of the bio sludge treatment would improve the possibilities to utilise the bio sludge in energy production and in soil construction and improvement.
The investment was valued at EUR8.5m, and work would be completed by spring 2006, reported the Finnish news agency STT.
One euro (EUR) is worth approximately 0.69 British pounds (GBP).
