Swedish telecomms solutions provider Ericsson reported on Friday (21 October) an operating profit of SEK22.7bn on net sales of SEK106.2bn for the financial period January-September 2005.
Both operating profit and net sales for the nine-month period increased, respectively from SEK17.8bn and SEK92.5bn, as compared to the corresponding period in 2004.
Operating profit in the quarter July-September 2005 amounted to SEK7.8bn on net sales of SEK36.2bn.
During the quarter 12 new WCDMA networks were commercially launched, bringing the total to 80. Ericsson is a supplier to 44 of these networks, the company said.
The number of WDMA subscriptions grew from 28 million to more than 34 million during the quarter.
At the end of the quarter worldwide subscription penetration was 32%, with more than 2.0 billion total subscriptions, of which almost 1.6 billion were GSM, Ericsson said.
One Swedish krona (SEK) is worth approximately 0.07 British pounds (GBP).
