T-Mobile UK selects Ericsson as its sole partner for 2G/3G core network modernisation

Swedish telecomms solutions provider Ericsson (Nasdaq: ERIC) said on Monday (4 December) that T-Mobile UK has selected Ericsson as its sole partner for a dual 2G/3G core network modernisation programme.

As T-Mobile UK's prime integrator Ericsson will take full turn-key responsibility for the supply of equipment, deployment, integration and live migration.

Under the new unlimited term frame agreement Ericsson will provide a new combined 2G and 3G core network.

The new all-IP infrastructure will also allow T-Mobile UK to deliver new multimedia services to UK customers. A new transmission network is also part of the modernisation project which will further upgrade the network.

Ericsson is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. Its equipment is used in more than 1,000 networks in 140 countries, and 40% of the world's mobile calls are made through Ericsson systems. The company is listed on the Nordic Exchange in Stockholm, and its shares are also traded on the London Stock Exchange and on Nasdaq.
