Yara International ASA signs cooperation and marketing agreement with Johnson Matthey Plc

Norwegian mineral fertilisers producer Yara International ASA said on Thursday (23 February) that it had signed an agreement with Johnson Matthey Plc, Noble Metals for cooperation on sales and marketing of its nitrous oxide catalyst.

The arrangement is exclusive, and takes effect immediately, the company said.

The technology to cut emissions of the climate gas nitrous oxide from existing nitric acid plants was developed at Yara's Research Centre in Porsgrunn, Norway.

Johnson Matthey Plc, Noble Metals would market the catalyst globally to Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and Joint Implementation (JI) countries as established and defined by the Kyoto Protocol.
