The Swiss-Swedish power and automation technology group ABB said on Wednesday (25 January) that it had secured a contract to design and build a system to supply power from the shore to the Valhall field in the Norwegian North Sea.
The initial contract, awarded by BP, covers front-end engineering design, but it also includes options for the engineering, procurement, construction and installation of High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) converters and the onshore station.
The total contract is valued at approximately USD60m.
One US dollar (USD) is worth approximately 0.57 British pounds (GBP).
