NORDIC BUSINESS REPORT-21 March 2006-TeliaSonera Sweden introduces SIM card locking service(C)1994-2006 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

Finnish-Swedish telecomms solutions provider TeliaSonera AB said on Tuesday (21 March) that customers of its Swedish subsidiary TeliaSonera Sweden (Telia) could now lock their SIM cards so that subscriptions for mobile machine applications only function in a specific terminal.

The new service would increase security and reduce the risk for SIM card theft in equipment located in unguarded or unprotected sites, according to the company.

The service, called "SIM Sealing" (SIM Plombering), costs SEK10 per month and functions with Telia's different telematics-based subscriptions in Sweden.

One Swedish krona (SEK) is worth approximately 0.07 British pounds (GBP).
