Finnish telecomms group Elisa Corporation said on Wednesday (22 March) that it had signed a contract with non-profit organisation DANTE for the supply of high speed capacity services to support the development of the next generation research and education network GEANT2.
The services of Elisa would enable DANTE to continue to upgrade the capacity and services of GEANT2 in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
In the Baltic states the new architecture of the GEANT2 network would be based on Wavelength and Synchronous Digital Hierarchy technologies at 2.5 gigabits per second.
Elisa's local partner in the Baltics is Baltic Optical Network, the company said.
