The Norwegian food group Rieber & Son ASA said on Friday (8 September) that it has acquired Dutch crispy fried onions and fried frozen onion rings producer Rijnhout Onion Products BV.
Rijnhout Onion Products produces onion products for the German and United Kingdom markets. The company achieved sales of EUR11.5m in 2005.
Rieber & Son said that the acquired operations will be merged with the business unit Cronions. Rijnhout Onion Products' production of onion rings will continue unchanged at the production facility in Kruiningen, but the production of crispy fried onions will be transferred to Cronions' plant in St Maartensdijk.
The acquisition price was not disclosed.
One euro (EUR) is worth approximately 0.67 British pounds (GBP).
