NORDIC BUSINESS REPORT-10 April 2007-TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Company ASA begins aeromagnetic survey in Mekong Delta(C)1994-2007 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com
Norwegian seismic company TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Company ASA said on Tuesday (10 April) that it has begun a 46,000 square kilometre survey in the Mekong Delta in Vietnam.
TGS-NOPEC is carrying out the non-exclusive aeromagnetic survey in collaboration with Petrovietnam.
The survey is "strongly supported by industry pre-funding", TGS-NOPEC said.
"The Mekong Delta has good, yet untested hydrocarbon potential and numerous oil companies have expressed interest to both TGS and Petrovietnam to see this survey undertaken," said Paul Gilleran, general manager of TGS-NOPEC's Asia-Pacific operations.
"The survey area is adjacent to productive areas offshore but lacks any previous geophysical data to define basin architecture," Gilleran added.
TGS-NOPEC is also planning to carry out a second phase of acquisition which will include aerogravity data.
TGS-NOPEC, headquartered in Asker, Norway, provides geoscience data, software and services to the oil and gas industry. Its TGS Imaging division provides advanced depth imaging solutions and software. TGS-NOPEC is listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange and traded under the ticker TGS.
