Swedish IP header compression technology developer Effnet AB said on Monday (16 April) that its wholly-owned subsidiary Factum Electronics AB has entered into a strategic alliance with the US company Harris Corporation.

The alliance will allow Harris to offer comprehensive Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB) and Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) solutions to broadcasters that want to offer digital audio, mobile video and data services over a single platform to consumer handheld devices.

The partnership allows the two companies to distribute and market Harris and Factum Electronics products and support services.

No financial information was provided.

Harris is an international communications and information technology company serving government and commercial markets in more than 150 countries. Headquartered in Melbourne, Florida, the company has annual revenue of about USD4.0bn and more than 14,000 employees.

Factum Electronics AB is a leader in the areas of DAB/DMB, digital audio/multimedia broadcasting, and NICAM, digital stereo sound for television broadcasting.

Effnet, headquartered in Bromma in Sweden, develops and sells embedded software that increases the efficiency, speed and quality of IP traffic in fixed, mobile and satellite networks. The company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Effnet Holding AB.

One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 1.93 US dollars (USD).
