Nokia and Samsung form mobile TV interoperability cooperation

Finnish mobile communications company Nokia (NYSE: NOK) said on Monday (16 April) that it will cooperate with the South Korean electronic products manufacturer Samsung on mobile TV interoperability.
The companies will engage in DVB-H enabled handset and network compatibility testing to accelerate the time to market for broadcast mobile TV services.
They plan to work together to support solutions based on the open OMA BCAST standard available for operator partners interested in deploying multi-vendor mobile TV services and trials.
Samsung and Nokia are both active in ongoing standardisation and technology development to optimise the broadcast mobile TV experience, Nokia said.
Samsung Electronics Co Ltd is a global leader in semiconductor, telecommunication, digital media and digital convergence technologies. The company employs approximately 138,000 people in 56 countries.
Nokia, headquartered in Espoo in Finland, is a global mobile phone and network equipment manufacturer. It has nearly 59,000 employees worldwide. Nokia is listed on the Helsinki, Stockholm, Frankfurt and New York stock exchanges.
