NORDIC BUSINESS REPORT-10 August 2007-Swedish polymer components manufacturer Nolato AB signs JV agreement with Chinese metal components manufacturer OPD(C)1994-2007 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

Swedish high-tech polymer components and product systems developer and manufacturer Nolato AB said on Friday (10 August) that its business area Nolato Telecom has signed a joint venture agreement with the Chinese metal components maker OPD.

The 50/50-owned joint company will provide mobile phone manufacturers with a single developer and supplier for both plastic and metal components. The new company will operate from Nolato Telecom's premises in Beijing and Shenzhen in China.

"The metal content of many mobile phones is increasing and metal is used, combined with plastic, for such purposes as creating design effects. Historically, our strength has been with plastic, but by partnering with OPD we are now broadening our customer offering in metal technology," said Jonas Persson, head of Nolato Telecom.

"This broadening is in response to customer demand and will strengthen our market position. Mobile phone manufacturers want a single supplier to be able to deliver both plastic and metal parts," Persson added.

Nolato, headquartered in Torekov, Sweden, develops and manufactures polymer components and systems for the telecommunications, automotive, white goods, medical technology, hygiene and other industrial sectors. The group has operations in Sweden, China, Hungary, Japan, Malaysia, Norway, Poland and Czech Republic. Nolato is listed on the Nordic Exchange in Stockholm.
