Sweden's Semcon AB wins project from GM Europe

Swedish IT and product development group Semcon AB said on Monday (27 August) that it has secured a contract from the car maker General Motors in Europe.

The contract covers complete simulation and calculation of a new automotive project, and includes the areas of accident, life cycle and comfort.

"This order applies to the European market, but it also provides us with possibilities for similar projects outside of Europe. The order also shows that our build-up of international technical competence delivers results and is something we will continue to invest in," said Stefan Ohlsson, senior vice president Semcon Automotive R&D.

The project will run until mid 2009.

The financial details of the contract were not disclosed.

Semcon, headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden, is a product development, technical information and IT group. The group has some 3,800 employees in 15 countries and sales of SEK3.4bn. Semcon is listed on the Nordic Exchange in Stockholm.

One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 13.84 Swedish kronor (SEK).
