Norwegian telecomms group Telenor ASA reported on Thursday (15 February) an operating profit of NOK18.3bn on revenues of NOK91.1bn for the financial year 2006.
Both operating profit and revenues for the 12-month increased, respectively from NOK12.2bn and NOK66.6bn, as compared to 2005.
Operating profit for the fourth quarter of 2006 amounted to NOK4.11bn on revenues of NOK24.5bn.
Earnings per share (EPS) in the fourth quarter amounted to NOK3.68, while the full-year EPS increased to NOK9.43 from NOK4.47 in 2005.
The number of mobile subscriptions in operations in which Telenor has ownership interests increased by 10m in the fourth quarter of 2006, reaching 115m. The number of mobile subscriptions in consolidated operations increased by 8m to 68m.
Telenor is one of the world's largest mobile operators, with nearly 83m subscribers in 12 countries. The group is also the largest provider of television services in the Nordic region. Telenor has some 27,600 employees and annual revenues of nearly NOK70bn. Telenor is listed on Oslo Stock Exchange under the ticker TEL and on Nasdaq under the ticker TELN.
One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 12.17 Norwegian kroner (NOK).
