Swedish telecomms solutions provider Ericsson (Nasdaq: ERIC) said on Friday (9 February) that it is helping to deliver the mobile Internet with the X-Series from mobile operator 3, making popular Internet applications available on mobile handsets on the 3 network in the UK.

The new service was developed by Ericsson and 3 within their UK Managed Services partnership. It includes services from Skype, Sling, Orb, Yahoo!, Microsoft Windows Live Messenger, eBay and Google.

During the project Ericsson was responsible for assisting in the end-to-end services development and delivering systems integration. Ericsson also provided solution design, development, verification and integration services.

Ericsson is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. Its equipment is used in more than 1,000 networks in 140 countries, and 40% of the world's mobile calls are made through Ericsson systems. The company is listed on the Nordic Exchange in Stockholm, and its shares are also traded on the London Stock Exchange and on Nasdaq.
