Ericsson signs music distribution agreement with The Orchard

Swedish telecomms solutions provider Ericsson (Nasdaq: ERIC) said on Monday (22 January) that it has signed a global music content agreement with independent music distributor The Orchard to distribute full track downloads and master tones across Ericsson's global network.

The agreement covers all major territories outside the US, the company said.

The Orchard's catalogue will be included in the content offerings connected to Ericsson's hosted white-label music service.

Consumers can choose from a full catalogue of tracks and downloads available and pay for the chosen content via their mobile phone bill.

The Orchard is a leading digital distributor and marketer of independent music, with a catalogue of more than one million tracks representing 73 countries, thousands of labels, and every music genre. The Orchard is headquartered in New York and London, with offices in 23 countries.

Ericsson is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. Its equipment is used in more than 1,000 networks in 140 countries, and 40% of the world's mobile calls are made through Ericsson systems. The company is listed on the Nordic Exchange in Stockholm, and its shares are also traded on the London Stock Exchange and on Nasdaq.
