Swedish medical and laboratory equipment and systems provider Getinge AB said on Wednesday (3 January) that its wholly-owned subsidiary Getinge Extended Care UK Ltd has completed its previously announced acquisition of the United Kingdom based company Huntleigh Technology Plc (LSE: HTL).
Getinge Extended Care announced in December 2006 a public offer for all shares of the company, and has now received acceptances representing approximately 95.8% of the share capital of Huntleigh Technology. The offer price of GBP4.80 per share values the company at GBP409m.
Huntleigh Technology is a medical technology company manufacturing and selling special mattresses and beds, products for preventing deep vein thrombosis, and equipment for foetal and vascular diagnosis. The group includes 20 proprietary sales companies. Huntleigh Technology has 2,600 employees and reported sales of GBP200m in 2005.
Getinge said that it plans to de-list Huntleigh Technology from the London Stock Exchange and integrate the operations into Getinge Extended Care.
Getinge is headquartered in Getinge in Sweden. The company has nearly 7,400 employees and operations in Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa. Getinge is listed on the Nordic Exchange in Stockholm.
