Ericsson renews patent cross license agreement with Samsung

Swedish telecomms solutions provider Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) said on Monday (9 July) it has renewed its worldwide patent cross license agreement with the South Korean telecomms solutions provider Samsung.
Under the terms of the worldwide royalty bearing agreement, Ericsson has granted Samsung a non-exclusive license under Ericsson's patent portfolio for the 2G and 3G mobile telephony standards to develop, manufacture and sell 2G and 3G subscriber and infrastructure equipment.
Samsung provides a royalty payment and a reciprocal license under Samsung's valuable patent portfolio to Ericsson, the company said.
Ericsson said that the parties have also agreed to dismiss all pending patent infringement lawsuits between the parties.
Ericsson is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. Its equipment is used in more than 1,000 networks in 140 countries, and 40% of the world's mobile calls are made through Ericsson systems. The company is listed on the Nordic Exchange in Stockholm and its shares are also traded on the London Stock Exchange and on Nasdaq.
