Swedish telecomms operator Tele2 AB said on Wednesday (2 May) that it has secured a 2.5-year IP VPN network contract from the Swedish regional rescue services organisation Raddningstjansten Syd.

The new network will provide fast and secure connections between the local rescue services in Malmo, Lund, Eslov, Kavlinge and Burlov in southern Sweden.

Tele2, headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, has more than 30 million customers in 22 countries. The company reported revenues of SEK54.6bn in 2006. Tele2 is listed on the Nordic Exchange in Stockholm.

One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 13.55 Swedish kronor (SEK).
