Ericsson wins contract to expand optical network in Italy

Swedish telecomms solutions provider Ericsson (Nasdaq:ERIC) said on Tuesday (22 May) that it has received a turnkey contract to expand the optical network of the Italian Internet provider Wind Telecomunicazioni SpA (Wind).

The contract covers the supply of metro and core optical transport technology and systems integration.

The value of the contract was not disclosed.

Ericsson is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. Its equipment is used in more than 1,000 networks in 140 countries, and 40% of the world's mobile calls are made through Ericsson systems. The company is listed on the Nordic Exchange in Stockholm, and its shares are also traded on the London Stock Exchange and on Nasdaq.
