The board of the Swedish production machinery manufacturer Karolin Machine Tool AB (KMT) issued a statement on Tuesday (20 November) recommending shareholders to reject the investor Nordstjernan AB's recent cash bid for the outstanding shares in the company.

Nordstjernan, which already controls some 73% of the votes and shares of KMT, is offering SEK105 per share for the remaining shares. According to KMT's board the offer undervalues the shares.

KMT, headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, develops and manufactures production machinery for the engineering industries. The company has some 825 employees and reported revenues of SEK1,586m in 2006.

One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 12.95 Swedish kronor (SEK).
