Swedish telecomms solutions provider Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) announced on Saturday (23 November) that it has been selected by the operator Algerie Telecom as sole supplier and systems integrator for its network upgrade.
Under the agreement, Ericsson will supply its Telephony Softswitch solution to migrate the operator's national transit layer to a next-generation network architecture.
Ericsson will also be responsible for network deployment, support, and training services.
The move sets the stage for Algerie Telecom to migrate to an all-IP network, the company added.
Ericsson is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. Its equipment is used in more than 1,000 networks in 140 countries, and 40% of the world's mobile calls are made through Ericsson systems. The company is listed on the OMX Nordic Exchange in Stockholm, and its shares are also traded on the London Stock Exchange and on NASDAQ.
