Sweden's Karolin Machine Tool AB acquires after-sales operations of French company La Decoupe SA

Swedish production machinery manufacturer Karolin Machine Tool AB (KMT) said on Thursday (20 September) that it has agreed to acquire the after-sales and service operations of the French waterjet cutting systems maker La Decoupe SA.

The purchase price is SEK6m.

La Decoupe has an installed base of approximately 80 systems, and the acquisition is expected to increase annual sales by approximately SEK6m.

"The objective behind this latest transaction is to further enhance our knowledge of the French waterjet market, while at the same time underpinning our position in aftermarket activities," said Lars Bergstrom, president and CEO of KTM.

KMT also said that it will open a branch office in Lyon. The new office will be operated as a profit centre within KMT's Waterjet business area.

KMT, headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, develops and manufactures production machinery for the engineering industries. The company has some 825 employees and reported revenues of SEK1,586m in 2006. KMT is listed on the OMX Nordic Exchange in Stockholm.

One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 13.46 Swedish kronor (SEK).
