NORDIC BUSINESS REPORT-6 September 2007-Sweden's Micronic Laser Systems AB wins large laser pattern generators order in Japan(C)1994-2007 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

Swedish high-tech company Micronic Laser Systems AB said on Thursday (6 September) that it has received an order for two laser pattern generators from a customer in Japan.

The laser pattern generators will be used to produce advanced photomasks.

The value of the order was not disclosed, but according to Sven Lofquist, president and CEO of Micronic Laser Systems, the order is the largest in the company's history.

"The market for pattern generators for display photomasks has been standing still for more than a year, which is challenging, but cyclical buying is not unusual for the capital equipment industry serving strong growth markets. We now see a gradual recovery in demand for pattern generators, mainly driven by the technology development in terms of systems for larger photomasks in combination of higher precision, image quality and productivity," Lofquist said.

Micronic Laser Systems, headquartered in Taby, Sweden, develops and manufactures laser pattern generators for the production of photomasks. In addition to operations in Sweden, the company has subsidiaries in the US, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. Micronic Laser Systems is listed on the Nordic Exchange in Stockholm.
